Volunteering in the Children’s Department: Summer 2021
Thank you to those who have reached out about potential teen volunteer opportunities this summer! We will still be open limited hours with the Summer Reading Club & related programs occurring virtually, so volunteering will look very different this year & we won’t be able to accommodate as many teens as we have in the past.
Currently, we are offering first refusal to our most recent teen volunteers, those who were with us during the majority of the 2019-2020 school year & the summer of 2019 & who are currently ages 15-17. Once their application deadline passes (mid-May), we will then offer any remaining positions to any interested & qualified teens ages 13-17. At that point, applications & job descriptions will be available on-site at the Children’s Desk & in downloadable versions here.
If you have any questions or wish to be put on the list to receive an application for a new volunteer after the mid-May deadline, please reach out to Ms. Michele at email@example.com.

Read 1,000 books with your child before they enter school–a goal experts say children need to help them learn to read for themselves. One of the best ways to encourage learning is to spend time sharing books every day. Reading together helps develop important pre-reading skills that provide a solid reading foundation—a key to school and learning success. Plus, sharing stories together is fun!
