  • Contemporary Craft Road Show

    When: Sunday, October 22, 2017 – 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
    Where: Tredyffrin Public Library at Meeting Room

    The 41st Annual Philadelphia Art Museum Contemporary Craft Road Show explores the wonder, beauty and spirit of craft. Representatives of the Craft Show will discuss the evolution of craft in America, the diversity of craft mediums and show the “how to” of integrating contemporary craft into your home. This show-and-tell presentation includes colorful images and craft objects. Attendees at the road show may purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $12.00

  • Beyond Aging: Understanding the Biggest Challenges Facing Older Adults

    When: Tuesday, October 24, 2017 – 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
    Where: Tredyffrin Public Library at Meeting Room

    What does it take to age with dignity, choice and independence?
    The number of people reaching retirement will double in number by 2030, accounting for an increase from 12% of the U.S. population in 2005 to almost 20% by 2030, with an estimated 8,000 turning 65 each day.Providing our parents, grandparents and ourselves quality care and longevity will demand a coordinated team of well-trained professionals and caregivers. An expert panel will educate you about the common aging issues being experienced today and some common misunderstandings. Some of the topics discussed will include: Do you have sufficient financial resources to fund your retirement? Will Medicare cover your age-related health care needs? Have you talked to your family and doctors about your life choices? Do you have it in writing?
    Get answers to these questions and learn about common aging issues being experienced today and some of the common misunderstandings.

    Read It & Steep welcomes readers with a love of non-traditional titles, scrumptious treats & spirited conversation.

    This month we are reading Shirley Jackson’s ‘We Have Always Lived in the Castle’ and ‘The Haunting of Hill House.’

    Where: Paoli Library at Paoli Library Meeting Room

    Come when you can to the Writers’ Group–no need to arrive at 12:30 or stay until 5:00. Review work, trade literary tips, make friends and have fun! Connect with other writers and build a thriving community together. All writers,and all should-be writers, are welcome!
    Times are flexible–please contact the organizers for details!

    Bring your poetry, your novels, your short stories, and your inspiration. This group is an opportunity for creative writers of all genres to come together and support one another as we develop our skills and confidence as writers. We will hold open meetings with some formal guidelines, to share our writing and inspire one other.

    Funerals are a fact of life. There are many options and alternatives that people don’t know about, and they truly offer a way for “life celebrations” to be deeper and even more meaningful. With humor and discussion we can learn new ways to have better funerals — more personal, more healing, and more memorable.

  • Maximizing Your Social Security and Medicare Benefits

    Many people don’t fully understand their Social Security and Medicare benefits, so they wind up taking Social Security at the wrong time, enrolling in Medicare at the wrong time, or not getting the right supplemental insurance to go with their Medicare. While each individual’s situation is unique, there are some things everyone needs to consider when making these decisions. We will discuss those important factors–as well as specific situations such as divorce, remarriage, and other topics–that affect your Social Security benefit. Don’t let a poor decision cost you money in lost benefits and higher insurance premiums.
    Attendees will receive a complimentary workbook.
