Special Events

Music Monday

Monday, September 8, 10-11 am

Teachers from the Music Training Center are bringing a "First Notes" class to the library!  This class is an introduction to pitch, singing, rhythm, and music expression intended for children under 5 years old.

Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Friday, September 19, 1-2 pm

Ahoy! We're celebrating “Talk Like A Pirate Day," me hearties! We'll read pirate books and then we'll be a-makin’ pirate costumes!  Bring your stuffed toys and we'll turn them from teddies and dollies into a pack of scurvy sea dogs for hours of piratey play. For ages 3-6.

Who says kids can't play with their food? We're bending

the rules and making snack time fun! Even the pickiest eaters will love the creative snacks we'll be preparing!

This no-bake class for 7-10 year olds is designed to encourage independence and to develop an interest in cooking. Children will also take home a recipe of their creations.

 



Robotics Workshops

Meet our Robotics leaders!

Paoli Library invites elementary school agechildren and their parent or caregiver to sign up for a Bright Start Robotics workshop held at the Library (www.brightstartrobotics.org). Bright Start Robotics workshops are designed for families interested in exploring robotics and computer science in a user-friendly, age appropriate, and fun environment. Using LegoMindstorms Robotics kits, children will learn to build robots, program robots to “speak” and navigate simple mazes, and learn to use digital and analog sensors to control their robots behavior. At the conclusion of the workshop, instructors will review a variety of robot kits available forchildren as well as opportunities for continued work in computer science and robots.

Workshops will be held on the following dates in the community room at the Paoli Library. Workshops are limited to 5 children. Parents are welcome to attend.

Duplo Building Blocks Club

Do you love Duplo Building Blocks? Well, bring your little engineers and join us for Duplo Club at the Paoli Library! We'll pull out the Duplo blocks and go crazy with creation! We provide the Duplo Blocks, you bring your imagination. Ages 2-5. No registration necessary.

Moove and Groove Storytime

Come join our active storytime with books, music, and movement for children ages 2-6 and their families.

Little One's Lapsit

Every Thursday from September 4 to December 18

Join our interactive storytime designed to promote early literacy, language development, and a love of books!  We’ll introduce stories, bounces, songs, and lifts, with a short stay-and-play for babies and their caregivers. Ages Newborn to 18 months.

Toddler Tales

A great way to make new friends! This is a storytime featuring books, fingerplays, music and movement activities, with a short stay-and-play for toddlers and their caregivers. Ages 18 months to 3. 

Sensory Storytime

First Thursday of the Month

1-1:30 pm

Register online for each date: September 4, October 2, November 6, December 4

Sensory Storytime is an interactive and educational program that can be enjoyed by all children, but is especially designed for children with sensory integration challenges. It combines books, songs, movement, and therapeutic activities to stimulate all five senses and promote learning. If your child has difficulty sitting through one of the library’s other storytimes, this inclusive program of stories, songs and activities may be just what you are looking for! Online registration begins soon!

 

German Language Storytime

First and Third Fridays (beginning September 5)

10-11 am

Bring your little ones to Paoli Library for stories, songs, playtime and sing-alongs —all in German!  Join us in developing your kids’ (age 0-5) German language skills. We will also celebrate some German holidays of the season—including Easter, St. Martin, Nikolaus & Advent. All are welcome! Some knowledge of the German language would be useful, as the story time will be conducted entirely in German.  For questions or more information, email germanstorytelling@gmail.com. Bilingual Spanish/English Storytime

First and Third Wednesdays  (beginning September 17)

4:30-5:30 pm

Would you like to introduce your child (age 0-5) to another language? This bilingual storytime is designed to help develop language skills in both Spanish and English. Mariko Nozaka, who grew up in Mexico and is an experienced teacher of Spanish, will present many familiar songs and books, so your child will soon be singing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar in both languages! Speakers of all languages are welcome.
