The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a year round ongoing event. The end goal is to read 1000 books before your child starts kindergarten. If you read just one book a day you will read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. You can do it! Reading with your child promotes bonding, vocabulary building, and more!
How to participate:
- Read
- Read together early and often. Every book counts — library books, home books, storytime, even rereads!
- Track
- Write each title you read together or use the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten app.
- Grow
- Build early literacy skills, language, and confidence — and strengthen your bond through shared stories.
- Register!
- Register here or at the library to begin! Any child from birth until they start kindergarten may join. Start anytime and go at your own pace!
