3D Print Request Form

Welcome to the Tredyffrin Library Makerspace Reservations, please use this form to request equipment and time in our Makerspace Room.

  • Step 1: Identify the equipment you want to use.
  • Step 2: Review and accept our Makerspace and equipment policies.
  • Step 3: Confirm your contact information and availability.
  • Step 4: Await your appointment confirmation / feedback email (sent within 1-2 business days)

These are the services that we can currently offer in the Makerspace Room. Usage requests will be responded to in 1-2 business days. For Makerspace policies, please view specific equipment.

3D Printing Policy

Eligibility:

Any library patron with a valid Chester County library card in good standing may request a 3D print. Youth under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the appointment.

Guidelines:

  1. Library 3D printers may be used only for lawful purpose, prints that will not be permitted to be created:
    1. Prohibited by local, state or federal law.
    2. Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others. (Such use may violate the terms of use of the 3D printer design software.)
    3. Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the Library environment. (see library policy)
    4. In violation of another’s intellectual property rights. For example, the printers will not be used to reproduce materials that are subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection
  2. The Library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print requests.
  3. The Library is not liable for any malfunctions or misprints and cannot guarantee the quality of any design or print job.
  4. Patrons can request 2 paid per month with a max print time of 3 hours per piece. Cost per print is calculated by weight, with an average cost of $0.50 to $3.00
  5. Items printed from the Library 3D printers that are not picked up within 7 days of notification will become property of the Library. Items must be picked up by the individual who submitted them for printing.
  6. Only designated Library staff will have hands-on access to the 3D printers.
  7. Library staff will approve and slice all jobs submitted.
  8. No Patron supplied filament is allowed.
  9. Complete patron privacy may not be possible during the 3D printing process.

Submitting a Request:

  1. Design Creation:
    1. Any 3D design software may be used to create a design as long as the file can be saved as an .stl or.obj format.
    2. Prints can be submitted during open Makerspace hours or online. Staff will check your design and if a approved will add to print queue.
* Please note that the procedures for the use of the Library’s 3D printers are subject to change.
