CCLS Library Cards
A Chester County library card is small enough to fit in your hand, powerful enough to change your life! It’s free and works at 18 libraries throughout Chester County.
With your library card, you can access online databases, books, audiobooks, magazines, reference help, music, business information, PC use, wireless internet access, DVDs/Blu-Rays, video games, programs for all ages, and more. In addition, you’ll be able to place holds on materials throughout the county. If you live, work, own property, or attend school in Chester County, then you will also be able to download eBooks and eAudiobooks and access a wealth of databases right from home.
Eligibility
You are eligible for a free library card if you live, work, own property, or attend school in Chester County. Out-of-County residents who are ACCESS PA cardholders qualify for a free library card under the ACCESS PA Statewide Library Card Program. For all others who wish to obtain a library card but do not meet the listed eligibility requirements, an Out-of-County fee of up to $20 may apply. Out-of-County residents must present their home county library cards to register in Chester County.
Renewal Requirement
The Chester County Library System has a 3-year renewal requirement for all cardholders. Expired cards cannot be used to borrow or renew materials, place holds, reserve museum passes, or download e-materials. Cardholder expiration dates can be seen when you access your account online.
Minor cards will expire when the cardholder reaches 18 years of age. When a minor’s card expires, they must show identification that verifies current address and complete an adult application form to reactivate their account. Learn more about Minor Library Accounts.
Applications
Library card applications for both adults and minors are available at the Circulation Desk and Children’s Circulation Desk. They can also be downloaded below.
Completed forms can be brought to Tredyffrin Public Library or Paoli Library with a valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, school ID) and a document verifying your current address (e.g., lease, bank statement, utility bill). Please note: A parent or guardian must sign and present identification that verifies current address for minor applications.
Adults may also choose to fill out an application online.
