Violin recital by Pandit Milind Raikar.

Swarpradnya Pandit Milind Raikaris a renowned musician from Goa. He is an acknowledged Hindustani classical violinist of the present generation. He is known for his melodious & soulful style of playing the violin.  He is a disciple of Padmashri Pandit D.K. Datar and Gaanasaraswati Kishoritai Amonkar.

And a tribute to the Nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar.

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, which is a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island).

2022 Arbo-READ-um Announcement

2022 Arbo-READ-um Community Read Event

Join Tredyffrin Public Library and Jenkins Arboretum and Gardens for the 2nd annual Arbo-READ-um Community Read Event. The Arbo-READ-um event is a program series born from a collaboration between the library and Jenkins Arboretum and Gardens. During the program, the library and the arboretum work together to provide opportunities to promote literacy, library and arboretum usage, and community conversations by encouraging Tredyffrin Township to come together by reading and discussing a single book.

Tredyffrin Public Library and Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens are excited to announce the book selection for the 2022 Arbo-READ-um event.

Under the Sky We Make by Kimberly Nicholas, PhD 

The library and arboretum also suggest to read The Future We Choose: The Stubborn Optimist’s Guide to the Climate Crisis by Christiana Figueres & Tom Rivett-Carmac as a supplement to Under the Sky We Make.

 

Beginning July 1st through to August 18th, join the library and arboretum in reading Under the Sky We Make and discussing the climate crisis and climate solutions. Check out the schedule of special events below and learn more about how to log your participation during the community read event!

Join Tredyffrin Public Library and Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens for a presentation and Q&A session with Dr. Kimberly Nicholas, author of Under the Sky We Make.

Pennsylvania’s Changing Climate with Kyle Imhoff
Thursday, August 18th, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Zoom Meetings
Join Kyle Imhoff to explore Pennsylvania’s observed historical trends in weather patterns and extreme events, as well as future projections of the changing climate’s impacts on the state and region. This talk will also provide a brief overview of climate change science from a global perspective and discussion of science communication – from successes and failures to public perceptions of climate change. Get a glimpse of the Beanstack challenges and reading logs by heading over to the libraries’ Beanstack. Access Beanstack here!

Once you begin logging your reading, you can enter in to win a prize pack featuring reusable goodies from Tredyffrin Public Library and Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens! Some of the prizes include a reusable tote and Swell water bottle from Tredyffrin Township Libraries and cards and a bandana from Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens.
A winner will be selected on Friday, August 19th.
